TBHQ suspected to hinder immune system fighting against flu

Several online media report that Michigan State University found hints that TBHQ (tert-butylhydro-quinone) hinders the human immune system from fighting against the flu. It could even effect the impact of vaccinations.

TBHQ is a synthetic antioxidant used in in frozen meat and fish, but also in cooking oils and deep-frying oils. Until now, the use within the permitted limits was considered harmless.

The thermal-oxidative stabilization of deep-frying fats and oils can better be done plant based.
